Day of the Dead/ Halloween Wedding Cake Topper

This is a commissioned wedding cake topper for a couple who love the Day of the Dead and Halloween.  Lots of detail, tattoos on the bride, red plaid jacket on the groom, and lots of action going on in the hollow tree behind them:  an owl, their dog peeing on the tree! and it includes a battery powered tea light which fits in a secret compartment on the back of the tree.  So the piece lights up and has black light paint.  Can't wait to see photos of it on top of their cake!  Lots of fun to make!

Joey thinks MAYBE it's Mr. Jenkins dressed up like a zombie, who's chasing him, but MAYBE not!  He's not taking any chances.  Let the candy fly!

Day of the Dead Diorama: Witch Hazel

In this Day of the Dead diorama, witch Hazel is in her cottage, busy preparing her magical mystery brew for Halloween.  I can't tell you exactly what's in it, (it IS a mystery brew), but some large bones are visible and she might have added some of the ingredients from her cupboard.  She has stocked up on snails, ghost blood, eye of newt, frog tails, hair of dog, (actual dog hair in there, my dachshunds, Belle and Sebastian graciously donated some of theirs).  Oh, and rat tails!  Her black cat, Inky, has another fresh tail in his mouth!

All of this is brewing in her big cast iron kettle over some hot polymer clay flames.  Behind Hazel is hung a photo of her great Aunt Handrel, famous for playing the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in the classic film, "The Wizard of Oz".

 The figures are sculpted from polymer clay and painted with acrylics.  Her cupboard is a wooden dollhouse prop.  On top of the cupboard are a polymer clay jack-o-lantern, shrunken head, and a skull.  On the floor is a lantern which glows in the dark.

The Psychoanalyst

Sometimes overcoming a traumatic event, (like your own death), requires a visit or two to a qualified mental health professional.  Fortunately, as you can see here, the famous psychoanalyst, Dr, Sigmund Freud,   is still helping patients on the other side.  Hypnotherapy, lots of reading material about death,  a big box of kleenex and sometimes a good stiff drink are all helpful tools in getting the recently deceased to accept and even embrace their new "situation".
The figures are sculpted from polymer clay and painted with acrylics, the furniture is made from clay and wood and the "books" are clay with paper covers.
Oh, and if you want to try self hypnosis, your can actually spin the hypnotic spiral!
The wooden base measures 5" x  7 1/2" and the piece is 5" tall.

Day of the Dead Skeleton Vampire

Handsome and charming?  Maybe, but also very DEADLY!  Armando told his lady friend that they were going to dance the Tango, but he had other plans for her!  As you can see, instead he has bitten into her succulent, (but boney) neck.  Poor thing!

Day of the Dead Wedding Cake Topper

This fun handmade wedding cake topper will make a wonderful addition to your Day of the Dead themed wedding!  The piece features a skeleton bride and groom and their dog.The figures are sculpted from polymer clay and painted with acrylics.  The bride is wearing a tulle veil and a lace embellished wedding gown.  Her hair is dark brown viscose and she's carrying a bouquet of red roses.
